Douglas Park School, Regina SK: Revit Model Animation
The new Douglas Park School in suburban Regina is a 50000 square foot K-8 school that replaces an existing facility on the same site. Number TEN Architectural Group worked collaboratively with Fielding Nair International during the design phase of the project in an integrated planning process. Number TEN is the prime consultant and architect of record. The design of this K-8 school incorporates three “Personal Learning Communities” (PLC’s) that function as clusters of approximately 125 students – PLC 1 (Pre-K to grade 2), PLC 2 (grades 3-5) and PLC 3 (grades 6-8). Each PLC contains instructional spaces adjacent to its own open learning commons and includes washrooms, kitchen, professional teacher collaboration space and smaller “break-out” rooms. Each PLC connects to the central all-school commons that functions as a multifunctional space, equally suited for uses ranging from Community events and formal presentations to a gathering or instructional space. Large overhead doors allow educators to open up adjacent learning spaces for increased flexibility. This animation was created using Number TEN’s Building Information Model (BIM) of the school. All of the 2-dimensional drawings (plans, elevations & sections) and schedules for the project were generated from this 3-dimensional BIM model. Construction is scheduled for completion in late summer 2012. www.numberten.com —————————– Music by Kalyn Hanuschuk
